We had our 36 week appointment on Tuesday and I am happy to report that Charlotte finally decided to turn and is now head down! I was 1.5 cm dilated, 75% effaced, and at -2 station. I am starting to have painful contractions that are waking me up at night and making life difficult during the day, but hopefully when I go back next week I will have made some progress.
After our wonderful baby shower a couple of weekends ago, we are feeling much more prepared to bring home a baby. We are so blessed with wonderful family and friends.
The plan for the weekend is to finish up the nursery and pick up some last minute baby items. We are picking up our glider tomorrow morning from Swaddle in Homewood, followed by shopping for a going home outfit and a baby book. Our new car seat should also arrive from Amazon tomorrow (clearly a necessity for bringing a baby home!). We had been all set for months with our Britax stroller and car seat ... only to find out last week that the car seat base hangs too far off the edge of my back seat and is not a good fit (nothing like waiting until the last minute to try it out!). So we sold the car seat and stroller on craigslist and are now awaiting our Peg Perego car seat and BOB revolution jogging stroller. We have a fantastic neighborhood for walking but have terrible sidewalks, so the jogging stroller is a perfect solution (not to mention that when Charlotte is old enough we will be able to use it for jogging).
