Babymoon

Brandon and I were fortunate enough to be able to take an amazing babymoon / post-graduation trip to St. John, USVI last month. We stayed at the Westin and definitely plan on returning.  Here are some pictures from our trip.

Still here!

After a fourth-month-long hiatus from blogging, I am finally posting again (at the request of my grandmother, who has gotten quite technologically-savvy!).  We have had a busy couple of months.  I am currently enjoying life on my radiology rotation, which is a nice change of pace from the surgery rotation I just finished.  So here are some quick updates:
Career Decision???  I think I have finally decided on internal medicine as a career choice.  However, I continue to waiver and feel unsure about this on a daily basis (I know I drive Brandon crazy).  The nice thing about internal medicine is that there are so many different options in terms of fellowships, lifestyle, etc.   It is a broad field.  So I went ahead and met with an internal medicine advisor and am getting things together for my residency application.  I will apply around September and hopefully interview between late November and early January.
Brandon: Brandon continues to enjoy his job at Brookwood.  I absolutely love his coworkers!  In June, he is picking up a flexi job (meaning he only has to work 3 times a month, but can work more if he wants) at St. Vincent's, where my Dad works.  Hopefully this can give us a little more control over the days of the week he works.
Brutus: Brutus is thriving on his diet.  We are religiously measuring his food, which really seems to have helped.  In addition, the weather has been really nice for walking him.  He is anxiously awaiting the arrival of his little Cavalier King Charles cousin, Bear, in June.  My mom and I go to Georgia on June 5th to pick him up.  He will be in Birmingham for one week before going up to Nashville.  I am so excited!  Here is Bear and his brother:

Sarah's Graduation:  We spent last weekend in Nashville for Sarah's Vanderbilt graduation and had a great time.  It was so nice to see Grandma and Blake's family.  Sarah has an awesome job as Gallery Director at Tinney Contemporary Art Gallery in Nashville.  Also, congrats to Sarah and Blake on their recent engagement!  The wedding date is set for March 5, 2011.
*For some reason my pictures look really fuzzy on the website, but you get the idea!

Our First Anniversary

Last week Brandon and I celebrated our first anniversary.  It is so hard for me to believe that an entire year has gone by!  We have had quite an eventful year . . . college graduation, new job, new car, another year of medical school, and some excellent trips!
We spent the 27th skiing then had a fantastic dinner at Sweet Basil in Vail (chauffeured by mom and dad . . . classic).   I got the pan-seared duck breast and Brandon ordered the 21 day dry aged buffalo strip steak.  We ended the night with the top tier of our wedding cake which was delicately brought out to Colorado in mom's carry-on bag!

(Sun was a little bright, but you get the idea)

A White Christmas

Christmas was a little different this year, but Mom did a great job shipping food, decorations, and stockings out to Colorado before the trip to keep a little tradition alive. We still had our tomato dill soup (which Brandon somehow got through security at the airport) and ham on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day was made complete with beef tenderloin, green beans, and Sister Schubert rolls. Brandon and I got a Canon S90 to replace our broken point and shoot, Sarah got a purse, Catherine got a bunch of stuff including DVD's such as Arrested Development and The Hangover, and Blake got some Southern Mississippi tumblers. Mom and Dad are in the midst of getting a complete master bathroom remodel . . . including a massive jacuzzi tub, heated tile floors, built-in towel warmer, and a huge shower with multiple shower heads and jets.

Greetings from Beaver Creek, CO

We are in Colorado for Christmas this year! We are having a wonderful time with the whole family. There was fresh snow the night before last for our first day of skiing yesterday, and some more snow last night. Yesterday was great . . . temperature around 30 degrees (but very overcast skies as it was still snowing). This morning was a little colder, 0 degrees on the top of the mountain, but beautiful blue skies. The day was topped off by Sarah's visit to the ER at the base of Beaver Creek for acute mountain sickness (she is doing much better now). Here are a few pictures from the last two days.
Merry Christmas and more posts to come!
