Weekend in Nashville

For the past month, I have been on the infectious disease consult service.  It has been an amazing rotation - pretty much Monday through Friday 8 to 5, with weekends off (I now see how the other half lives ... and I have to say I kind of like it!).  So for my last weekend off, we decided to make a little road trip up to Nashville to visit the Apple's and Sarah and Blake.  We had so much fun!
Charlotte with Judy and Dan on their front porch in Franklin
Walking all over Merridee's bakery after our walk

Playing in the kitchen
Charlotte loved being pulled around the dining room in this basket!
Getting in the wagon to walk into town for some shopping
Baking strawberry bread

On Saturday afternoon, we met Sarah and Blake at Arrington Vineyards, which is close to both Nashville and Franklin
Absolutely beautiful!
Waiting for the wine tasting
Charlotte stayed with Aunt Sarah and Uncle Blake while Brandon and I did our tasting, as babies weren't allowed at the bar (who knew??)
LOVING the water bottle

Crawling up the stairs, perhaps Charlotte's favorite activity of the weekend

Heading to bed after a fun-filled day!
On Sunday we visited Sarah's art exhibition at Tinney Contemporary in Nashville, where she is the gallery director.  It was amazing!  Nashville Arts Magazine recently featured the show in an article which can be read here

Charlotte LOVED Dan.  She thoroughly enjoyed Judy as well, but she really does seem to be enamored with men.  She's going to be a little handful

Going to Sweet CeCe's for frozen yogurt

Yum!
We can't wait until our next visit!

Charlotte's Lake Party

Because Brandon's parents were out of town the day of Charlotte's first birthday, we had a second party for her at the lake last weekend.  We had lots of other reasons to celebrate on July 15th too, as my mom and dad celebrated 34 of marriage and Leah turned 24.  Although it stormed early on in the day, it cleared up enough for us to take Charlotte on her first boat ride!

Think she has enough presents??
Her new tunnel and tent!

Getting ready to open her big present from Grandma and Grandpa Nye

A rocking elephant!

Look who's ready to go tubing next summer!
Brutus was able to successfully squeeze into his life jacket for the boat ride!
Charlotte ... not so sure about her life jacket
Brutus made a new best friend (one of Leah's friends who was at the lake celebrating her birthday)

Charlotte slept peacefully for the first half of the boat ride

Attempt at a family picture (even if it was completely over-exposed ... )
Brutus remembers how to swim!

Charlotte's first swim in the lake = SUCCESS!

Airing out ... things were going well until we got back in the boat and I realized I had forgotten to take off her regular diaper and put on a swim diaper ... details, details
Driving the boat
This screaming baby looks like a job for the Grandpa's
And this is how Charlotte repays Grandpa Nye

The only thing that made her happy on the ride back was climbing up the step on the front of the boat

Time for a birthday cupcake!

Very cautious at first ...
... but then she started to get into it!

Happy birthday Charlotte!
